Video Explainer – Lithium Batteries in your Strata

Lithium batteries in your Strata

Lithium batteries know the risks. Stay safe

E- scooters, phones, laptops. Lithium batteries power our lives. But they also pose serious fire risks. Overcharging, physical damage, or faulty chargers can trigger thermal runaway, a dangerous chain reaction that creates intense fires and toxic fumes.

Protect yourself.

  1. Use Australian standard approved batteries and chargers.
  2. Charge on flat, heat resistant surfaces.
  3. Never leave batteries charging unattended.
  4. Inspect lithium batteries regularly for damage or swelling.
  5.  If damaged, safely dispose of them.

Some buildings may have their own bylaws around charging locations, types of batteries and devices, and more. Ask your manager.

Even with insurance, no one wants the aftermath of a battery fire: property damage, higher premiums, or worse, injury or loss of life.

Know the risks. Take precautions. Protect your home and your neighbors.
